When Inclusive Innovation Week wrapped up in 2017 it was clear there was a hunger for additional programming and opportunities to continue the Inclusive Innovation discussion year-round. The outcome of that feedback led to Pittsburgh’s Inclusive Innovation Meetup group, a platform to be used year-round to bring awareness to initiatives, pilot creative programming for engagement and provide an additional pathway for individuals to connect with Inclusive Innovation and the City of Pittsburgh and connect with each other. A year after its launch the meetup has 1,000+ innovators and the numbers seem to grow each day. Though with each event we do not see 1000+ attendees, it does signal people in Pittsburgh are passionate about and interested in inclusive innovation. With the city as a lead convener in this work, we strive to continue to find engagement opportunities and build on the entry points for individuals to be part of transformation and invention in the city.
