Data 101 : Making Open Data Accessible
Working together, the Western Pennsylvania Regional Data Center (WPRDC) and the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh created “Data 101,” a workshop series designed to increase data literacy regardless of past experience. The goal is to help Pittsburgh-residents in all fields, technical and non-technical, learn how to use data and provide them with valuable technology training. The first four workshops focused on data visualization, data stories, mapping, and graphing, and drew in participants from a variety of organizations, including local government, non-profit organizations, and schools. These classes take place monthly at library branches around the city and help residents overcome the barriers to using open data and learn how data can inform sound decision-making. Be sure to check out the next workshop to learn more.
